AAF Allocation

Ensuring your support has maximum impact

As decided by the alumni body in 2010, donors to the AAF can choose to direct their gift towards one of three strategic priorities: scholarships, lifelong learning or the Dean's Development Fund. Every gift brings us one step closer towards our goals.

The Dean's Development Fund - £69,543.71

Ensuring student support remains at the heart of our community

Gifts to the Dean’s Development Fund enable the School to fund to areas of current greatest need. Dean Peter Tufano oversees this fund, with the advisory support of key faculty.

As with the 2011/12 funds, student support remains a priority. Almost 70% of the Dean’s Development Fund will be allocated toward scholarships for a total of £65,000. You can read more about the scholarships by clicking on the relevant link below.

The Dean will use the remaining funds (£16,759.22) to re-establish a Community Fund for the School. The original Community Fund was established by the generosity of the MBA class of 1997 and was supported for several years by later classes. The Fund supported travel and subsistence for students involved in strategic consulting projects that benefited the wider community.

In a similar spirit, and to reflect the expanded student body, the Dean will re-establish the Community Fund to support all degree programme students involved in projects and activities with social impact. Students will be encouraged to apply for travel grants from the Community Fund to support extra-curricular projects that enhance their business knowledge and experience outside the classroom. The awarding of grants will be overseen by the Dean and a small faculty panel. We will keep alumni apprised of the impact of the Fund throughout the year via the OBA e-newsletter.

Scholarships - £12,543.51

Enabling us to attract and retain the best candidates to the MBA, MFE and EMBA programmes

The 2014/15 academic year will be the third year of alumni-funded scholarships, and as a result of your generosity, we are delighted to be extending this provision as follows:

Forté Fellowships - 1 x £15,000 MBA scholarship and 1 x £15,000 EMBA scholarship

In partnership with the Forte Foundation, the School has established merit-based scholarships for female candidates to the MBA and EMBA programmes.  More about the Forte Foundation can be found here.

AAF Scholars - £25,000 MBA scholarships and £10,000 MFE scholarships

Similar to our peers, the School is continues to be able to offer a number of merit-based scholarships to MBA and MFE students, thanks to generosity of the alumni community.

Lifelong Learning (£7,122.73)

Joining up our global community of alumni, faculty and students to tackle world-scale challenges

As the School community continues to expand globally and demographically, so does participation in the Annual Fund. The School is intent on continuing to foster connections within our community and to provide access to lifelong learning resources, thus in 2012 launched GOTO.

GOTO is an action-oriented problem-solving community

  • anchored by advanced research by Oxford University scholars,
  • composed of Oxford students and alumni, and
  • driving towards new businesses and policies that embrace the global threats and opportunities of the next quarter century

Over 1,000 alumni initially joined GOTO, and many have been very active members. Last year’s funds provided to alumni access to premier business intelligence resources and supported the development of the GOTO platform for alumni in general. This year’s funds will continue to fund the library resources, and enable the School to strengthen digital offerings in the form of a live webinar with experts. This provision will enable alumni to play a more active role in contributing to the GOTO discussion, whether on Demography or Big Data.

Make a difference

It is worth remembering how much can be achieved by each alumnus giving what they can...

50 alumni donating £100 each pays for a year’s subscription of alumni journal access

25 alumni making a gift of £200 supports a Community Fund grant to help students tackle world-scale problems

20 alumni giving £30 a month for 5 years funds a full MFE scholarship
